Cycling past Peak Forest quarry this morning I noticed a very shiny wagon. So this afternoon I couldn't resist going back armed with a camera. The wagon in question is a HOA hopper, smartly turned out in DB Shenker livery;
The wagon number for those interested is 320013. It contrasts nicely with an EWS liveried HOA behind it;
Although it looks smart on closer inspection you can see dirt under the paint, and judging by the uneven coverage the paint looks to have been applied by roller.
Just for the sake of balance here's a pair of scruffy JGAs;
And an internationally registered bogie open;
Paul.
The Schenker HOA hopper would provide a good excuse for plonking something straight out of the box onto the layout! The JGA's are a nicer shape, perhaps it is the shadow beneath the curving bodyside- I prefer the orange livery, even with blanked-out ownership and especially with the graffiti. That final bogie open photo would be a real challenge to paint on a model, but it is rather tasty!
ReplyDeleteInteresting to see that the chassis and bogies on the HOA are grey rather than the more usual black, very continental. I'm with you on the JGAs, nicely proportioned hoppers, probably my favourite modern wagons. I do own a Bachmann example, in Buxton Lime livery, a rare RTR purchase.
DeleteThere's normally loads of those open box wagons around here of various types. I rather like them as well, but wouldn't fancy the challenge of painting one either!
