Road/Rail Runabout.

Photographed today in Buxton, a little John Deere road/rail conversion;

I've also spotted this little green runabout parked up at Peak Forest. I've yet to see it move though, although I suspect that in never gets used in daylight.

I wonder what its like to drive?

Paul.

  1. My bro', who lives up in the highlands, often sends me photos of rail converted Landies, but never anything like this. It is a cute thing, for sure. Looks like the rail equipmant is manually changed by that big lever at the front...no servos here then! A fascinating find.

  2. It looks like a full-sized Britains toy!

    Road/rail Landies can be found in a compound next to the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway at Wirksworth, the EVR being used for testing rail conversions (as well as Underground battery locos).

    There's often road/rail wheeled excavaters parked down in a layby near Dove Holes as well. Perhaps I should stop off down there with the camera? I do have some photos of road/rail cherrypickers which I may post at some time, simply because they are so unusual.

    1. I would be very keen to see any other rail/road convertible stuff...I find it fascinating...please do stop off with the camera! Yes, it does look like a Britains toy...I think the yellow wheels clinch it.

    2. I'll dig out and post those cherry picker photos at some stage Iain.
