Grounded van bodies 9.

Here's an example from the Midland Railway Centre, located behind Swanwick station;

The windows are neatly done, and I wonder what the angle iron projections are for, one of them has a shackle attached but they look too flimsy to be lifting lugs.

  1. A lovely example...nice to see a van so well kept. I am mystified by those brackets, too. Perhaps they held a sign of some sort, put on in the van's secondary life?

    1. I should have had a look at the other side of the van to see if there are matching brackets on the rear. It does make a nice contrast to others that I've photographed.
