Quirky cup

A somewhat different subject for today's post, but I think at least one of you will find it interesting.

Last weekend we went to Macclesfield's Treacle Market, a craft and vintage market held on the last Sunday of the month. Whilst my wife was looking at teapot on a vintage stall (she collects Denby Arabesque ware) I spotted a small cup with an interesting design in a Heath Robinson/Emmett style;

Three locos are featured;

With the third inside;

Some closer views of the outer two;

And, the maker;

It measures 64mm high and 58mm diameter.

I've not been able to find much about this on t'net, other than a similar cup was made by Wedgewood for Beamish, with a different handle, the Beamish logo on the inside and the loco featured on the inside of mine on the outer with another loco of a different design.

  1. That is the sort of find that can take me down a rabbit hole.

    1. I started, but didn't get far. Which is probably a good thing, although I'm curious to know who the artist was.
