Today I cycled back to Peak Forest with my camera, here's the one which caught my eye;
Note the lack of floor.
Further along the line there sat 6 more OAAs (and 3 JNAs) in a train, all loaded with blocks, here's one of them;

That wagon certainly has strayed just a little...but it's a fascinating prototype, one I knew nothing about. I agree, it doesn't look feasible in 4mm. As an aside, I actually thought the top photo was a model...something about the track and the rather unconvincing scenery with what looks like a structure kit straight out of the box ...! But in that case, the weathering on the wagon is superb :-)
ReplyDeleteThe front track is mainline, the two rearmost tracks are both sidings. Trackwork is kept neat around the quarries - the trackwork inside Tunstead would put many mainlines to shame!
ReplyDeleteI like Peak Forest, the sidings are next to the road and you can stop and watch high capacity bogie hoppers being loaded with limestone, loading being done with a big digger.
