Its quite an interesting place Mark, and the chaps there were very friendly. My favourite item, which I didn't get a decent photo of as it was hidden behind a Portacabin, was a small dumper truck which had been converted for rail use by cutting down the pressed steel wheels and fabricating flanges and tread from sheet steel. I have no idea who made it but the bucket can rotate 180 degrees side to side and it was fitted with a 2 cylinder Petter diesel.

Clever.
ReplyDeleteI go through Elsecar on the train on my way to work yet I've have never been to the railway; I really must make the effort some day soon.
