First up, a spindle return spring;
This sits between the headstock and the motor mount and is used when the machine is set up as a drill, to return the spindle back to its raised position after use without faffing about with the clamping screws;
It does reduce the total travel from 20mm down to 15mm, which shouldn't be a problem as I mostly drill thin brass, and I also own a bench drill should I need to drill deeper holes.
Next up a machine vice;
And seen here clamped to the cross-slide;
This is actually a Unimat 3 item and has a bigger base than those designed for the SL. The jaws are 35mm wide, 16mm deep and it opens out to 28mm.
Note that the machine vice, and the milling table also, covers the cross-slide locking screw when fitted. I'm not sure if this will be a problem or not.
And finally I've bought a Mitutoyo dial test indicator, seen here clamped to the bed;
This one is metric and has a range of 30mm (most metric DTIs have a range of just 10mm), which will come in handy for, among other things, drilling accurately spaced holes, making con. rods for example.
Paul.
